Snowshoing at McCrae Lake

McCrae Lake Nature Reserve on eastern Georgian Bay is an easily reached (and free) year-round hiking opportunity. The trail head is just off the 400, accessed from Crooked Bay Rd. I prefer to use it in the winter. I was there earlier this month, checking out the trail conditions. There’s a good guide to the trails on Trails.com, a free app. You can also see the trails on Topo Maps Canada, a great free app that uses official government topographical maps (shown), although the trail marks don’t entirely align with the ones on Trails.com, which is the better guide to them.
