The Sun Times of Owen Sound has reported on concerns the volunteer Friends of Cabot Head have over the deteriorating state of the historic lighthouse property on western Georgian Bay. “The board is very concerned for the security and deterioration of the site and structures, especially the safety of our valuable historical and sentimental museum assets,” the Group stated in a recent Facebook post. “Observers have noticed that twice this summer, the site was accessed by vandals who stacked up the picnic tables and climbed onto the roof of the lighthouse. Graffiti was found and a second-floor window was forced open. The back door into the porch on the cottage is also insecure and the rear wall of the gift shop needs repair.”
