The Turtle Bay Area at the north end of Beausoleil Island (north of the Brébeuf Island light, south of Lost Bay) is a great place for a day visit and poking around in the dinghy. It’s only about 30 minutes from our marina dock and has some of the most interesting geological features on the eastern shore of Georgian Bay. We didn’t get the sun the weather people promised today, but it was an October afternoon well spent. Because it’s not a great overnight anchoring area—exposed to the west, and to wake from nearby boat traffic—it tends to be quiet even at the busier times of the boating season. Every summer, I tell myself I should come here more often.
