After 25-odd years of living across the road from Severn Sound on southeastern Georgian Bay, I’m still amazed every spring how quickly a seemingly solid ice cover can vanish. That was the case this afternoon, when I wandered down to the park and saw what appears to be open water all the way to Beausoleil Island. Temperatures were sub-zero over the weekend (with snow) but today we were up around 13C and that seems to have done the trick.
