Big trailer park proposed for Wye Heritage Marina

Tay municipal council will be holding a public hearing at 2 pm on February 10 on a proposed amendment to the official plan and zoning by-law that would permit Wye Heritage Marina, just outside Midland, Ontario on southeastern Georgian Bay, to develop a 74-unit trailer park on its existing property, as shown in the drawing above. Maple Leaf Marinas Holdings has been working on the proposal since 2019, and so far the main objections have come from across the Wye River, where residents seem to fear some kind of unsightly/noisy addition to their view. I keep a boat at Wye (in a slip at dock B in the upper right of the drawing) and I don’t have strong feelings one way or the other about the development proposal. My only concern would be if trailer park residents were given a priority in slips, but so far I haven’t received any indication that will be the case. If you want to know more, visit the Tay township website, go to the calendar for council meetings, and download the package for February 10.
